Distinguished Service Cross GVI

The Distinguished Service Cross or DSC originally known as the Conspicuous Service Cross (renamed in 1914) and was awarded across all ranks of the Royal Navy. Army and RAF Officers serving aboard navel vessels were included from 1940. Officers of the Merchant Navy were also included from 1931. The lower limb of the medal is engraved with the year of issue and subsequent awards are denoted by adding a 2nd award bar to the ribbon. The GVI issue of this medal was awarded unnamed.
