Bust of Oliver Cromwell

Bust of Oliver Cromwell made in British Gypsum Plaster. 

As with all Famous Faces there are objects around the base. For this bust we have included the chopping block, round head breastplate, drum, crown, helmet and charging horses and soldiers going to war.

The etch around the base reads -

"IF YOU SEEK PEACE, PREPARE FOR WAR"

From fen farmer, to puritan and Lord Protector. Cromwell fought for freedom against Charles I's catholic ideas, finiancial excess and 'rule by divine right'. As one of history's most controverisial figures he has been referred to as both military dictator and hero of liberty. (1599-1658)
