Memorial Plaque - The Death Penny with Memorial Scroll
The WW1 Memorial Plaque - also known as the Death Penny or Dead Mans Penny - was awarded to personnel killed as a result of war. Over 1.3 Million World War One Memorial Plaques were issued. Plaques were awarded to the next of kin of those killed in action and were accompanied by a memorial scroll from the King. Our replica Memorial Plaque will be engraved and includes a reproduction of the Memorial Scroll.
The original Memorial Plaque was bronze, our replica is pewter which is then copper plated and chemically bronzed measuring (as the original) 11.5cm (4.5") and weighs 216 grams. We manufacture our Memorial Plaque in Birmingham's famous Jewellery Quarter making this one of the most authentic and precise replicas available today.
Your plaque will be engraved with the same details as the originals, please note that the plaques were named with just christian or forenames and surname, no rank, number or unit was shown. The Memorial Scroll (included free of charge) will also be personalised with the name and regiment, service or unit of the deceased.
